The route
MASTER ATELIER

An exclusive experience in the art of antique patinas.
After many years dedicated to restoration and decoration, I felt the desire to create something different from the courses I usually hold in my workshop.
An experience reserved for just one person, with whom I can share my work, my knowledge, and the years of experience gained in the restoration workshop.
This is how MASTER ATELIER was born.
A meeting between master and student, where time and attention are dedicated entirely to a single person.
We will work side by side on the Antique Patina, each on their own piece of furniture, sharing every stage of the process.
I envisioned an experience where we'd have the freedom to delve deeper into each topic, discuss ideas, and follow the work with all the attention necessary.
The stay in the farmhouse, immersed in the Tuscan countryside, will be an integral part of these days.

THE ANCIENT PATINA
The art of interpreting time
The Ancient Patina is born in the restoration workshop.
Once upon a time, the craftsman not only had to reconstruct a damaged or missing piece of wood, but also recreate its color, so that his work would blend in with the rest of the piece of furniture.
And this is precisely where our journey begins.
To achieve a convincing result, simply reproducing a color isn't enough. You need to reconstruct the preparations of the past, rediscovering those slightly cracked, worn, or repainted surfaces that tell the story of the years gone by.
But color alone cannot imitate time.
Something more is needed. What we artisans call patina.
A combination of knowledge, small tricks, and tricks passed down through the workshops, which allow the new color to blend with the one naturally transformed by time.
After all, there's something curious about our profession: we try to pass the time.
And we do so precisely in an era in which, on the contrary, it seems that everyone is trying to erase its signs.
Yet time, with its cracks, wrinkles, and imperfections, teaches us that beauty does not necessarily coincide with perfection.
«"Perhaps true beauty lies not in trying to stop time, but in learning to recognize what it has left us."»

THE WORLD OF PIGMENTS
Ten color samples
As you create the ten samples, I will guide you through the discovery of the fundamental pigments, their characteristics, and their uses in painting.
I like to imagine the world of colors as a large theater, where each pigment has its own personality and a role to play.
There are the main actors and the extras, the adversaries, but also those who manage to restore balance, which I call the healers.
We will learn about these protagonists, understand how they behave and how they interact with each other, to discover the infinite possibilities that can arise from the encounter of a few pigments.
